Memorial Families:
Our 3rd marking period will come to an end on March 12th. This means the beginning of a new academic start. I would encourage all of our students to commit to excellence and continue to strive for success in the classroom, on the athletic field, and within our community over the course of the next nine weeks. The staff at Memorial remains committed to ensuring all of our students find success. We have worked hard to establish a positive school culture focused on academic achievement and Memorial Pride. We will continue to emphasize these big ideas during the final quarter. Your continued support is greatly appreciated.
Our 8th-grade students will participate in Memorial’s “Make a Difference Day” on March 12th, and it truly is one of the best days of the year! Our students spend the day giving back to the community, visiting organizations like the Humane Society, RePlay, Playhouse Square, Broadmoor, and local retirement homes.
It’s incredibly inspiring to watch our students roll up their sleeves and make a real impact. Middle schoolers sometimes get a bad rap for being glued to their screens, but if you could see them working hard, helping others, and representing Mentor Schools with pride, you’d know just how special they are. We have GREAT kids, an AMAZING staff, and we are so fortunate to be part of a community that welcomes our students and gives them the opportunity to experience the power of volunteering firsthand.
We would like your assistance reminding your child to come to school with their Chromebooks fully charged and ready for use. A large number of students are either forgetting their Chromebooks at home or arriving with devices that are not charged. Memorial has a few loaner Chromebooks and when a significant number of students either forget their devices or fail to charge them, this, in turn, affects students who genuinely require loaner devices to address specific Chromebook repairs.
The state assessments are right around the corner. The dates of each assessment are outlined below. As the tests are taken in an online format on the Chromebook, it is critical that students bring their fully charged Chromebook to each test. Please assist us in reminding your child to bring their Chromebook to school and encourage your child to get a good night’s sleep and eat breakfast throughout our testing days. If your family has a prearranged vacation during testing, please contact our guidance department (440-974-2255) to schedule an alternate testing day for your child.
