Our programs are intended to develop leisure skills and enhance socialization. Mentor Schools Volunteers for 2023-2024
Beginning Monday, June 5th, 2023, volunteers can begin to have their background checks completed for the 2023-2024 school year. Background checks are run at the Mentor Board of Education Administration Building, Door 1, located at 6451 Center Street. Office hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; no appointment is necessary. A photo ID is required to run the background check and you will be asked to provide your Social Security number. Minors must have a consent form signed by a parent or guardian. Results will be emailed to you at the email address provided on the waiver and may take four to six weeks to receive. A background check is only good for one school year; volunteers must get an updated background check each school year in which they wish to participate. Mentor Schools Job Fair
Please mark your calendars for Saturday, August 5th, 2023 when Mentor Schools will hold a Job Fair from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Paradigm Building, 6465 Center Street (behind Mentor High School). We are seeking both non-teaching and teaching applicants for substitute positions for the 2023-2024 school year. Substitute teachers are required to hold a four-year degree, not necessarily in the education field. Information will also be provided on any full-time positions that remain open at that time. Questions regarding the Job Fair can be directed to the Director of Human Resources, Kathy Burnett, at 440-974-5204.
Back to School Bash
The 2023 Back to School Bash is sponsored by the Lake County Department of Job & Family Services and the Lake County Family and Children First Council. The event is being held Saturday, August 5, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Harvey High School, 200 W Walnut Ave, Painesville and is open to ALL Lake County children. Lice checks, haircuts, clothing, dental services, vision screenings, sports screenings, immunizations, family photos, books, and community resources will be offered to students at no cost. Mentor Schools Transportation Department
Mentor Schools Childcare Provider Form
A Childcare Provider form must be completed each school year if you need your student(s) transported to/from a Board approved daycare for your school. This also includes students needing to attend a private daycare such as with a relative, neighbor, etc. We will only transport to/from the individual daycare in your school area and it must be the same for every day of the week.
A list of board-approved daycares and the Childcare Provider form can be accessed by going to our website, www.mentorschools.net.; click on About Our District, Transportation Department, then Childcare Provider Information. This year the form will be available through Infinite Campus and will not require you to print and send in a form. We hope this will make the process easier for families. The forms will be available the second week of June. The deadline to submit a Childcare Provider form in order to assign your student a bus for the first day of school is July 15, 2023. All forms submitted after this date may take up to 10 business days after the start of school to assign busing.
Mentor Cardinal Youth Football Association
As a member of the Great Lakes Youth Football League, the Mentor Cardinal Youth Football Association's
mission is to promote the development of leadership, sportsmanship, character, and athletic ability, while also nurturing youth fitness, volunteerism and a lifelong love of sport. Registration is now open until June 30th.

Camp Kesem provides a FREE camp experience to children affected by a parent's cancer diagnosis. It is run on college campuses across the nation and specifically in the Cleveland area, will be located on the campus of Case Western Reserve University in early August. For one week, school-age children get to go have fun and just be a kid with activities such as hiking, messy wars, tie-dye, and everything in between! For more information, click Camp Kesem
Mentor Youth Volleyball Camps
Registration is now open for the Mentor Youth Volleyball Camps to be held at Mentor High School on June 12th to 14th, 2023. There will be one camp for those entering 7th and 8th grade and one camp for those entering Kindergarten through 6th grade. No volleyball experience is necessary. Registration is now open for the 2023 season!

Registration for a basketball summer camp for girls entering grades 3 through 8 is now open. Mentor High School coaching staff and players will be teaching various skills such as shooting, ball handling, and passing skills. Mentor Cardinals Basketball Camps
Registration is now open for the Mentor Cardinals Basketball Camps from June 5th to the 9th for students entering grades 1 through 9. Each camp will focus on age-appropriate skills such as shooting, ball-handling, footwork, passing, varsity drills, etc. The registration fee includes a T-shirt, pizza daily, and a pass to all boys home games. Mike Moran Basketball Camps
The Mike Moran Basketball Camps are the oldest running basketball camps in northern Ohio, with over 40 years of operation. It has always been able to boast about having the most experienced staff of coaches.
The Moran camp has always stressed the teaching and drilling of fundamentals. It is truly a camp designed for young players who want to improve their skills and be able to play competitive basketball. The camp runs all day, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. - 3:15 p.m. This camp is offered two separate weeks: June 19-23 & June 26-30. Mentor Schools Kindergarten registration for the 2023-2024 school year will open on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 for children who will be five years of age on or before September 30, 2023.
